The AI Search Influence Map is a free interactive map of every lever that decides whether AI engines cite your brand: 8 influence domains, 41 factors, and the 12 answer engines that weigh them differently. The HTML version is a pan-and-zoom canvas; this file is the same content as text.

## What is the AI Search Influence Map?

It is an interactive map of every lever that decides whether an AI engine cites your brand. Eight influence domains — Access & Crawlability, Entity & Structured Data, Content & Answers, Authority & Citations, Reputation & Community, Local & Markets, Measurement & Feedback, and Offense & Strategy — orbit a single hub, carrying 41 individual factors between them. Click any factor and the panel tells you what it is, why AI engines weigh it, and which AI Syndicate features pull it.

## How do you read the map?

Node size is tooling depth — the bigger the dot, the more of the platform stands behind that factor. Color marks which domain a factor belongs to, and the dotted outer ring is the engines themselves: click one and the map dims everything except the factors that engine leans on hardest. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, search to jump straight to any factor, feature or engine, and use the download control to export the whole map as a PNG.

## Which AI engines are on the outer ring?

Twelve: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot, Meta AI, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Siri and Alexa+. None of them weigh the same things. Gemini and AI Overviews lean on structured data, the knowledge graph and your Google surface. Perplexity wants fresh, citable third-party sources. Grok reads what is being said on X this week. Siri and Alexa+ speak a single name aloud, picked from local data and reviews. The Prompt Simulator runs one question through all of them side by side, so you can watch those differences decide the answer.

## Why do AI engines cite one brand and not another?

Because an AI answer is assembled, not ranked. First their crawlers have to reach you at all — one robots.txt line or an over-eager firewall rule can erase you from a model's world without a single error showing up in your analytics, which is the layer AI Access measures. Then machines have to resolve who you are, find content shaped like the answer, and see someone credible vouching for you: the authority and citations layer. Reputation sets the tone of what gets said about you, and for anything geographic your local data has to agree with itself in every market you serve.

## Where should you start?

Underneath everything else: access. Run a free AI visibility audit to see which engines can currently reach and read your site, then work outward through the map from there. If you want the discipline behind the diagram, start with generative engine optimization. And if you would rather be walked through it, take the 60-second tour — nine stops, the mission first, then one for each domain.

## The eight influence domains

Each domain is a hub on the map; the factors below hang off it, and node size on the map reflects how much AI Syndicate tooling stands behind each factor.

### Access & Crawlability — CAN THEY REACH YOU?

Before an AI engine can cite you, its crawlers must reach, render and read your site. This is the physical layer of AI search — and where most brands are silently invisible.

#### Bot permissions · robots.txt · 29 AI crawlers

Every AI engine sends its own crawlers — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and 26 more. One bad robots.txt line silently erases you from a model's world.

- **AI Access Audit** — One live scan: robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemap and bot access on your real domain.
- **29-Bot Resolution Check** — Verifies every major AI crawler can actually get in — engine by engine.
- **AI Access Score** — A 0–100 AI-readiness grade you can track, benchmark and defend.

#### llms.txt & agents.md · the AI front door

Machine-readable site manifests tell LLMs what you are, what matters, and where the canonical answers live — before they burn crawl budget guessing.

- **llms.txt Generator** — Builds a spec-correct AI manifest straight from your site.
- **llms-full.txt Builder** — The long-form companion models can ingest whole.
- **agents.md Generator** — Standing instructions for AI agents visiting your site.
- **AI-File Guard** — Your AI files graded on the same rubric we score everyone with — forever.

#### Sitemaps & IndexNow · discovery & recency

Engines can only cite what they have found. Clean sitemaps plus instant IndexNow pings shrink the gap between publishing and being cited.

- **Sitemap Audit** — Coverage, freshness and errors across your whole URL set.
- **IndexNow Submitter** — Pings the engines the moment a page ships or changes.
- **URL Inspector** — Per-URL view of exactly what engines can fetch.

#### CDN & WAF gates · don't block the bots

Firewalls and bot-protection rules regularly block AI crawlers by accident — an invisible outage in AI search that no analytics tool reports.

- **Cloudflare Crawler Controls** — See and set AI-crawler rules right at the edge.
- **Bot Identity Checks** — Confirms real engine bots aren't being challenged as scrapers.

#### Speed & rendering · Core Web Vitals

Slow or JavaScript-locked pages get truncated or skipped by AI fetchers on tight budgets. Fast, server-rendered HTML gets read in full.

- **PageSpeed Monitor** — Lab and field speed on the pages that matter, watched over time.
- **Core Web Vitals Tracking** — LCP, CLS and INP tracked page by page.
- **Per-URL AI-Readiness Audit** — Your top pages scored the way AI fetchers actually read them.

#### Security posture · trust at the edge

Certificate errors, mixed content and missing headers make cautious crawlers bail — and make engines less willing to recommend you.

- **Security Access Scan** — Headers, TLS and mixed content, graded like a crawler sees them.
- **Security Fix Queue** — Ranked security fixes with plain-language implementation steps.

### Entity & Structured Data — DO MACHINES KNOW WHO YOU ARE?

AI engines assemble answers from entities, not pages. If machines can't resolve exactly who you are, they can't recommend you — or worse, they recommend someone with your name.

#### JSON-LD schema · speak machine

Organization, Product, FAQ and HowTo markup turns your prose into facts an engine can quote with confidence.

- **Schema Studio** — Author, validate and ship JSON-LD without touching the codebase.
- **Page Schema Generator** — Drafts the right markup for any URL automatically.
- **GTM JSON-LD Push** — Deploys markup through Google Tag Manager in one click.

#### Knowledge graph · Wikidata & beyond

Knowledge-graph entries are the backbone of entity resolution — models lean on them to decide which “Acme” you are.

- **Wikidata Assistant** — Guides a compliant, durable Wikidata presence.
- **Wikidata Enrichment** — Fills the gaps and stitches sameAs links across the web.
- **Entity Plan** — The roadmap from unknown company to resolved entity.

#### Brand entity kit · one identity everywhere

Consistent names, descriptions, logos and sameAs links across the web collapse ambiguity into a single, citable identity.

- **Brand Entity Kit** — One canonical identity: names, logos, descriptions and links.
- **Brand Ownership Map** — Every profile and property you control, inventoried.

#### Disambiguation · the wrong-Acme problem

When a model confuses you with a similarly named company, their bad press becomes your answer.

- **Brand Confusion Monitor** — Alerts the moment models mix you up with a namesake.
- **Disambiguation Playbook** — The specific fixes that make you the only Acme.

#### Schema drift · markup rots

Redesigns and CMS updates silently strip structured data. Drift detection catches it before the engines re-crawl.

- **Schema Watch** — Alerts when a deploy strips or breaks your markup.
- **Compliance Scan** — Full-site sweep for missing or invalid structured data.

### Content & Answers — IS IT SHAPED LIKE THE ANSWER?

Engines don't rank pages — they extract answers. Content shaped like the answer wins the citation; everything else is training data for someone else's win.

#### Answer-first pages · extractable by design

Direct answer in the first breath, evidence after. Models lift the passage that answers cleanly — make yours the liftable one.

- **Content Factory** — Answer-shaped drafts, briefed from the prompts buyers really ask.
- **Content Briefs** — What to say, in the order models extract it.

#### FAQs & how-tos · question-shaped supply

Q&A and step-by-step formats map one-to-one onto how people prompt. They are the highest-yield formats in AI search.

- **HowTo Generator** — Step-by-step copy and markup in one pass.
- **FAQ Blocks** — Question-shaped sections engines lift verbatim.

Engines discount stale pages. Visible update stamps and a steady publishing cadence keep you in the consideration set.

- **Freshness Stamping** — Visible, machine-readable update stamps on every page.
- **Delivery Calendar** — A publishing cadence your team can actually hold.
- **Content Cadence** — Tracks the rhythm the engines learn to expect from you.

- **Tracked Prompts** — The prompts that matter, monitored across every engine.
- **Coverage Matrix** — Answered vs unanswered, mapped by funnel stage.
- **Prompt Simulator** — Test a new question before you build the page for it.

- **GA4 AI Referrals** — AI-driven sessions isolated inside your own analytics.
- **Search Console + Bing Sync** — Classic search data joined to the AI picture.

#### Competitor intel · relative visibility

AI search is zero-sum: every answer names someone. Benchmarks show who is winning each prompt, engine by engine.

- **Competitor Matrix** — You versus 25 named rivals, engine by engine.
- **Competitor Discovery** — Finds who actually wins your prompts today.
- **Benchmarks** — Your score against your vertical, not the void.

#### Hallucination watch · wrong answers cost more

Models confidently repeat wrong prices, dead products and stale facts. Catching hallucinations early is brand defense.

- **Hallucination Watch** — Catches models saying wrong things about you.
- **Accuracy Facts** — The canonical fact sheet models get graded against.

- **Ask Caite** — A strategist that already knows every scan and score you have.
- **Action Plan** — Next moves ranked by impact-to-effort, not by hunch.
- **To-Do List** — The whole program as one prioritized checklist.

AI agents will soon compare, choose and transact on their humans' behalf. An MCP endpoint makes your data legible to them first.

- **MCP Endpoint** — Your data, natively legible to AI agents.
- **Developer API** — Everything in the dashboard, programmable.
- **Webhooks** — Push events into the systems you already run.

### Reputation & Community — WHAT THE INTERNET SAYS

Models are trained on what the internet says about you. Reviews, forums and social are AI search's long-term memory — and it forgets slowly.

Social posts seed the pages, mentions and entities engines later cite. Consistent presence compounds.

- **Social GEO** — Social content built to seed AI citations.
- **Social Autopilot** — Scheduled, on-brand and relentless.
- **Social Analytics** — Which posts turn into mentions and answers.

#### Video & YouTube · the second search engine

Engines quote transcripts and recommend videos directly. YouTube is both a citation source and an answer surface.

- **YouTube Signals** — Transcripts, titles and descriptions tuned for citation.

#### Sentiment & news · tone becomes truth

Sustained negative coverage becomes the model's default framing of you. Watch it, answer it, dilute it.

- **Brand Sentiment** — The tone of your coverage, tracked over time.
- **Brand News** — Every story about you, in one feed.
- **Brand SERP** — What a search for your name actually returns.

### Local & Markets — WIN EVERY 'NEAR ME'

“Best X near me” is the highest-intent prompt in AI search. Local signals decide which name comes back — in every city and language you sell in.

#### Google Business Profile · the local anchor

GBP data flows straight into AI answers about hours, services and “best near me”. It is the local ground truth.

- **GBP Integration** — Hours, services and posts — synced, scored, watched.

- **Local Signals** — NAP consistency across the directories that count.
- **Citation Overrides** — Fix wrong listings at the source, not one by one.

#### Multi-location · every market, tracked

AI answers differ by city. Per-location tracking shows where you own the answer and where a rival does.

- **Workspace Locations** — Every branch tracked as its own battlefield.
- **Multi-Location Scans** — Visibility per city, not just per brand.

#### Languages & markets · answers travel

Engines answer in the buyer's language, from that market's sources. Each locale is its own battlefield.

- **Language Probes** — Asks the engines in your buyers' languages.
- **Answer Translation** — Reads back what the engines say abroad.

### Authority & Citations — WHO VOUCHES FOR YOU?

Engines decide who to trust before deciding who to cite. Authority is earned in the sources the models already believe.

#### Third-party sources · citations behind citations

Models weight independent sources over your own site. The citations behind the citations are the real lever.

- **Citation Intel** — The sources behind AI answers, decoded.
- **Brand Sources** — Where you're cited today, mapped.
- **Source Validation** — Which mentions the engines actually trust.

#### Network signals · the web around you

Partners, integrations and ecosystem pages create a lattice of corroboration that engines read as consensus.

- **Network Signals** — Partner and ecosystem pages that corroborate you, tracked.

## The twelve engines on the outer ring
