## What is Local?

**Local** is AI Syndicate's map-pack and listings monitor. When a buyer asks Google — or an AI assistant — for the best option near them, the answer comes from the map pack, the business's Google Business Profile, and a dozen directories. Local watches all of it: **live 3-pack positions** for searches its buyers actually type, the **Business Profile as buyers see it**, listings across **13 map and directory platforms** verified with evidence, and the **name/address/phone conflicts** on the brand's own site that quietly break machine identity resolution.

## What it measures

1. **Business Profile health** — rating, review count, categories, address, phone, and hours read from public Google Maps data, exactly as buyers see them; an unclaimed listing is flagged only when Maps itself shows it unclaimed.
2. **Map-pack rank tracker** — tracked searches built the way the brand's buyers actually search, checked against the live Google map pack: position per query, in or out of the 3-pack, with real position history accruing over time.
3. **Citations across 13 platforms** — Google Maps, Yelp, Better Business Bureau, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Clutch, Foursquare, OpenStreetMap, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Waze, and HERE — each with an evidence-tiered verdict and a claim link.
4. **NAP conflicts on the brand's own site** — canonical Name/Address/Phone read across the site's own pages, with every cross-page disagreement flagged by severity.
5. **Identity completeness** — a 0–100 score for how complete and consistent the published identity looks to machines, with the gaps listed. The formula stays ours.
6. **GBP connect + local schema** — Google Business Profile OAuth connection for owner-only detail, plus a live check of the homepage's LocalBusiness schema tags read from the real site audit.

## Honest by design

- **Verified needs evidence.** A listing counts as yours only with real proof behind it — and the proof signals we check stay unpublished, because they're exactly what look-alikes would game. A name-only match reads "possible match — confirm," never "found."
- **A miss that proves nothing says so.** On platforms where absence can't be proven, the verdict is an explicit "check manually" with the platform's business-console link — never a false NOT FOUND.
- **Awaiting beats invented.** Owner-only metrics (photos, Q&A, posts) show an honest awaiting state until the data is real — no demo numbers styled as live data.
- **Queries a buyer actually types.** Tracked searches are built from the real business, not a keyword template; when they can't be built yet, an honest card explains what unlocks tracking instead of fake tracked rows.

## How it works

1. **Look** — the Business Profile is read from public Maps data; the brand's own pages are scanned for canonical name, address, and phone.
2. **Track** — searches built the way buyers actually search are checked against the live Google map pack; position history accrues.
3. **Verify** — 13 platforms probed with evidence-tiered verdicts: verified / possible match / not found / check manually.
4. **Fix** — NAP conflicts ranked by severity, claim links for every gap or unclaimed listing, LocalBusiness schema checks, GBP connect for owner-only detail.

## Local vs. listings-sync tools

- **Listings syncers** answer "are your listings synced?" — consistency you lease, which lapses when you stop paying.
- **Local** answers "do the pack, your profile, and your listings prove you're the one to pick?" — evidence-tiered verdicts, live pack positions on real queries, your own pages cross-examined, and claim links so the listings end up owned by you.

## FAQ

**What is Local?** The map-pack and listings monitor: Business Profile health from public data, live 3-pack rank tracking on real-category searches, 13-platform citation verification with proof, and cross-page NAP conflict detection.

**Where does the GBP data come from?** Public Google data; connecting your Google Business Profile adds owner-only detail. Anything unproved shows an honest awaiting state.

**How are tracked searches chosen?** Built from your real business, the way buyers actually search — the exact recipe stays ours. Can't be built yet → an honest explainer card, never fake tracked rows.

**How are citations verified?** By evidence we deliberately don't publish — it's what look-alikes would game. Name-only = "possible match to confirm," never "found."

**What about Apple Maps, Bing Places, Waze, HERE?** Checked too — but a miss there can't be proven, so those read "check manually" with the real console link instead of a false NOT FOUND.

**What is a NAP conflict?** A cross-page disagreement in your own published Name/Address/Phone — a silent killer of machine identity resolution, flagged by severity.

**Does Local push updates to directories?** No — it verifies what's live and hands you claim links, so you own the listings instead of leasing consistency through a syncer.

**Which plans include it?** Every plan — pack tracker, profile health, citation grid, and NAP detection, no add-on.

**How is it different from SEO Access and Brand Intel?** SEO Access scores overall Google-side ranking readiness; Brand Intel checks whether AI knows who you are; Local is the map layer under both.

## Glossary

- **Map pack** — Google's three-listing map block for local-intent searches; AI assistants lean on the same local data.
- **Citation** — a listing of a business on an external platform; machines cross-reference citations to decide a business is real.
- **Evidence-tiered verdict** — verified (proof says it's you) / possible match (name-only) / not found / check manually (a miss can't be proven).
- **NAP conflict** — a cross-page disagreement in Name, Address, or Phone on the brand's own site.
- **Unclaimed listing** — a profile no owner has verified; flagged only when Maps itself shows it unclaimed.
- **Tracked query** — a search rank-checked in the live map pack, built from how buyers in your market actually search.
