How to get recommended by Alexa+

Alexa+ doesn't just answer questions. It books tables, finds contractors and makes appointments through partner services. Here is what Amazon says about how it reads the web, and which partners a local business should be on.

Quick answer

Alexa+ reaches local businesses in two ways: partner services such as Yelp, Thumbtack, OpenTable, Vagaro, Angi and Square, and Amazon's crawlers. Allow Amzn-User, which Amazon says responds to Alexa queries that need up-to-date information. Then get listed and bookable on the partners that cover your kind of business.

What is Alexa+, and who uses it?

Alexa+ is Amazon's generative-AI version of Alexa, first announced on February 26, 2025. Amazon now says it "is now available to all customers in the U.S. and Canada," on Echo devices, in the Alexa app and on the web at Alexa.com, with early access in several European and Latin American countries. Amazon

It costs $19.99 a month, but "all Amazon Prime members get it for free." Amazon That puts it in a lot of kitchens by default.

The difference from old Alexa is that it acts. Amazon says Alexa+ can navigate the web on its own to finish tasks for you, such as arranging a repair. For a local business, the question is less "does Alexa mention me?" and more "can Alexa book me?"

Which services does Alexa+ use to find local businesses?

Amazon connects Alexa+ to partner services for bookings and local search. The ones that matter most for local businesses: Amazon Amazon

VagaroBook salon, spa and fitness appointmentsBeauty, wellness, fitness
ThumbtackHire local service prosHome and local services
YelpConnect with pros for jobs from "painting and plumbing to roofing and renovation"Home services
Angi"Search, find, and request quotes" for home projectsHome services
Square"Discover local beauty and wellness providers" and book with themSalons, spas, barbers

Amazon announced Yelp, Angi and Square in December 2025 as integrations coming in 2026. Amazon

We couldn't find an Amazon page where a business can claim or edit how it appears in Alexa+. Until there is one, your profiles on these partners are the closest thing to an Alexa+ listing. If Alexa+ books through Vagaro and you aren't on Vagaro, it can't book you.

Which Amazon crawlers should I allow in robots.txt?

Amazon lists three crawlers, and all three follow robots.txt allow and disallow rules: Amazon Developer

CrawlerWhat Amazon says it doesUsed for AI training?
Amzn-User"Supports user actions, such as responding to Alexa queries that require up-to-date information"No
Amzn-SearchBot"Used to improve search experiences in Amazon products and services"No
AmazonbotImproves Amazon's products and services, and "may be used to train Amazon AI models"May be

For Alexa answers, Amzn-User is the one to keep allowed. It fetches your page when someone's question needs current information.

Amazon also honors robots meta tags. noarchive means "do not use the page for model training", and noindex means do not index it. So you can keep your pages out of training with noarchive, or by disallowing Amazonbot, and still let Amzn-User read them. One catch: Amazon's crawlers don't support crawl-delay.

What should my website do for Alexa+?

When Amzn-User reads your page, it is looking for a fact to say out loud. Voice answers are short, so pages that state facts plainly win:

  1. Put hours, phone and service area in text. Not only in an image or a map embed.
  2. Answer one question per heading. "Do you do same-day plumbing repairs in Phoenix? Yes, until 6 p.m." is a sentence Alexa can say.
  3. Keep text in the HTML. Content that only appears after JavaScript runs is harder for any crawler to read.
  4. Link to your booking page. If you take bookings through Vagaro, Square or OpenTable, say so and link it.
  5. Keep one set of facts. Your site and your partner profiles should list the same name, address, hours and prices.

How do I check whether Alexa+ recommends me?

Ask Alexa+ what your customers would ask, on an Echo, in the Alexa app or at Alexa.com, from inside your service area. Note which business it suggests and which partner it books through.

To check many questions at once, our Prompt Simulator includes Alexa among its 12 engines. Alexa has no public answer API, so that result is a clearly labeled reconstruction, not Alexa itself. See how Siri and Alexa are run for what that means.
