How does a multi-location business show up in AI search?
What every location needs, what Google's own rules say, and how to track AI answers town by town.
Give every location its own page, its own Google Business Profile, and the same name, address and phone everywhere they appear. Mark each location page up with LocalBusiness structured data. Then track each area on its own, because "best dentist near me" gets a different answer in each town. AI Syndicate's self-serve plans cover 1, 3 or 10 markets.
Why is AI search harder with more than one location?
Because every location is its own answer. When someone asks an AI assistant for "the best family dentist in Clearwater", the engine needs facts about the Clearwater office: where it is, when it opens, how to reach it. A brand-level page doesn't answer that.
For example, picture a dental group with offices in Tampa and Clearwater. If the website has one contact page listing a head-office phone number, a store-locator widget with no real pages behind it, and two Business Profiles that spell the brand differently, an engine gets mixed signals. In our experience, mixed signals are one of the most common reasons a location gets skipped or described wrongly.
The fix is not clever. It is boring consistency, done for every location.
What does each location need?
Five things per location. Each row says what Google's own documentation asks for.
| What | What Google says | Why it matters for AI answers |
|---|---|---|
| One Business Profile per location | Don't create duplicates: Google says a duplicate "can cause problems with how your information displays on Google Maps and Search." Google | Google's AI features draw on Search, and Google advises keeping your Business Profile information up to date. Google |
| The same brand name on every location | "All locations must have the same name unless the business's real world representation consistently varies from location to location." | One name makes it clear the locations belong to one business. |
| A local phone number | Use a number "that connects to your individual business location", and a local number "instead of a central call center helpline number whenever possible." | A per-location number helps tell one office from another. |
| Its own page on your site | LocalBusiness markup recommends a url that is "the fully-qualified URL of the specific business location". Google | Engines can only quote a page that exists. A widget with no page behind it gives them nothing. |
| LocalBusiness structured data | name and address are required; telephone, url, geo and opening hours are recommended. Google says each location can be its own LocalBusiness entry. | Structured data is code that states the facts in a form machines read directly. Google asks that it match the visible text. |
The brand itself gets one more thing: Organization structured data on the home page or About page, which Google says helps "disambiguate your organization in search results". Google
How do I manage 10 or more locations on Google?
Google offers bulk verification for chains. Its help page says it applies "if you have 10 or more locations of the same business". The rules worth knowing before you start:
- Your spreadsheet must have 10 or more profiles from the same business.
- "Duplicate, suspended, or disabled profiles don't count towards the 10 Business Profile minimum."
- Include every profile you manage: "Do not leave out any businesses."
Before you upload, build one master sheet with each location's exact name, address, phone, hours and page URL. That sheet becomes the single source every profile, page and directory listing is checked against.
How do I track AI visibility for each location?
By hand, ask the same questions with each town's name in them ("best family dentist in Tampa", "best family dentist in Clearwater") and log each town separately. See how to check ChatGPT step by step.
On our platform, three features do this per area:
- Local tracks your live Google map-pack position on searches built from your real business category, checks your listings on 13 platforms with evidence-based verdicts and claim links, and flags name, address and phone conflicts across your own pages, ranked by severity.
- Prompt Simulator runs any question, town name included, across 12 AI engines at once and shows whether each one names you.
- Competitors measures share of voice (how often AI answers name you versus rivals) against up to 25 rivals you choose.
All three are on every plan.

Common questions
Should every location have its own page?
Yes. Google's LocalBusiness markup expects a URL for the specific location, and an AI engine can only quote a page that exists.
Can all my locations share one phone number?
Google asks for a number that connects to the individual location, and a local number instead of a central call centre wherever possible.
Do I need structured data on every location page?
It isn't required to appear in Google's AI features, but it states each location's facts in a form machines read directly. Google suggests treating each location as its own LocalBusiness entry.
What counts as a market on AI Syndicate's plans?
Our pricing page lists markets per plan (1, 3 or 10) without mapping them to locations one for one. Ask us how your locations would be counted.
