Quick answer

With our starting numbers for HVAC and plumbing companies (80 leads a month, 40% close rate, $1,500 per call, 30% of buyers asking AI first, AI score 40 raised to 80), the calculator estimates about 166 more leads, 67 more jobs and $99,852 more revenue a year, or $74,889 in year one while it ramps up. At a 30% margin that is about $29,956 in added profit a year once you reach score 80. The report compares that with the AI Launch Plan, our $200-a-month plan for home service businesses. At these numbers about six new customers a year cover it. The "AI names you" rates, the 32.5% middle rate and the 6-month ramp are our own estimates.

What do buyers ask AI when they need one?

In BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults, 45% had used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local business recommendations, up from 6% the year before (source).

These are examples of the questions we test for HVAC and plumbing companies. Each one is a moment when a buyer asks an AI tool instead of scrolling a list of links:

  • "Who can fix my AC today in [your city]?"
  • "Emergency plumber open now near me"
  • "Is it worth repairing a 15-year-old furnace?"
  • "How much does a water heater replacement cost in [your city]?"

If the answer names three businesses and yours isn't one, that buyer never sees you.

What makes AI name one HVAC or plumbing company over another?

In our audits of HVAC and plumbing companies these are the things we check first:

  • Your hours and emergency service written as text, not only in an image or a phone-number button.
  • One page per service (AC repair, furnace, water heaters, drains) that answers the buyer's question on the page.
  • Price ranges for common jobs. AI tools quote businesses that give numbers.
  • Every town you serve named in plain text.
  • Reviews that mention the job and the speed: "fixed our AC the same day".

Which number should a HVAC or plumbing company change first?

Times a client buys again. Maintenance plans and repeat repairs are where this trade earns. The starting guess is 2 more jobs per customer.

This trade lives on repeat customers and maintenance plans. That's why the lifetime value (about $299,557 at the starting numbers) is three times the full-year figure.

The full method, and the checks that stop the answer running too high, are on the main AI Revenue Calculator page.

FAQ

Questions from HVAC and plumbing companies

Why does lifetime value matter so much here?

The starting guess says a customer buys twice more after the first job: a tune-up, a repair, a plan. So each new customer is worth about three times the first job. Change the repeat number in the detailed section to match yours.

Do emergency calls count?

Yes. They are leads like any other. If most of your leads are emergencies, AI answers to "open now near me" questions matter most, so your hours need to be on your site in plain text.
