An estimate, not a promise. The “AI names you” rates are our own straight-line estimate (10% at score 0, 55% at score 100), and other channels are weighed at the score-50 rate. Change any number above to match your business.
With our starting numbers for law firms (40 leads a month, 20% close rate, $8,000 per case, 30% of buyers asking AI first, AI score 40 raised to 80), the calculator estimates about 83 more leads, 17 more cases and $133,136 more revenue a year, or $99,852 in year one while it ramps up. That is about $53,255 in added profit a year at full speed. An estimate, not a promise.
What starting numbers does the calculator use for law firms?
| Number | Starting guess for law firms |
|---|---|
| Leads a month | 40 |
| % of leads that become clients | 20% |
| What one new client is worth | $8,000 |
| Profit margin | 40% |
| Times a client buys again | 0.2 |
| % of buyers who ask AI first | 30% |
| AI score today → target | 40 → 80 |
These are our starting guesses so the page shows a number right away. Replace every one with yours. "What one new client is worth" means the fee from one new client. Contingency fees vary a lot by case type, so use your own average.
How does the math work out?
| Step | Math | Result |
|---|---|---|
| AI names you now / at score 80 | score 40 → 28%; score 80 → 46% | 28% → 46% |
| Share of your leads from AI today | 30% × 28% ÷ (30% × 28% + 70% × 32.5%) | 27% |
| AI leads a month | 40 × 27% | 10.8 |
| Extra AI leads a month | 10.8 × (46% ÷ 28% − 1) | 6.9 |
| Extra leads a year | × 12 | 83.2 |
| Extra cases a year | × 20% | 16.64 |
| Added revenue a year | 16.64 × $8,000 | $133,136 |
| Year one, with a 6-month ramp | × 75% | $99,852 |
At a 40% margin that is about $53,255 in added profit a year once you reach score 80. The report compares that with AI Managed, our software with a dedicated account manager, from $3,000 a month. At these numbers year-one profit comes out just above that cost, about $1.11 back for every $1. The "AI names you" rates, the 32.5% middle rate and the 6-month ramp are our own estimates.
What do buyers ask AI when they need one?
In BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults, 45% had used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local business recommendations, up from 6% the year before (source).
These are examples of the questions we test for law firms. Each one is a moment when a buyer asks an AI tool instead of scrolling a list of links:
- "Best car accident lawyer in [your city]"
- "Do I need a lawyer for a slip and fall?"
- "Which law firms in [your city] work on contingency?"
- "How long does a personal injury case take in [your state]?"
If the answer names three businesses and yours isn't one, that buyer never sees you.
What makes AI name one law firm over another?
In our audits of law firms these are the things we check first:
- One page per practice area that answers the client's real question, in plain words.
- Attorney bios with bar admissions and years in practice, written as text.
- How you charge (for example contingency, free consultation) stated clearly.
- Past results only where your state bar's advertising rules allow them, with the disclaimers they require.
- Reviews and directory profiles (Avvo, Justia, Google) that say the same practice areas your site says.
For how AI tools pick sources in general, see what an AI citation is.
Which number should a law firm change first?
What one new client is worth. Use your average fee per signed case. Injury, family and criminal fees are very different.
Legal advertising has its own rules in every state. Anything the calculator suggests you publish still has to pass your bar's advertising rules.
The full method, and the checks that stop the answer running too high, are on the main AI Revenue Calculator page.

Questions from law firms
Does this work for personal injury firms?
Yes. Put in your own average fee per signed case. Injury fees vary so much that the starting guess of $8,000 is only a placeholder.
Is it allowed to market a law firm to AI search?
Rules vary by state. AI tools repeat what you publish, so the same bar advertising rules apply to it, including rules on testimonials, reviews and words like "best". Check new pages against your state bar's rules. This is not legal advice.
