What could AI search add for roofers?

The calculator below opens with starting numbers for a typical roofing company. Change them to yours and see the extra leads, jobs and revenue if AI tools named you more often.

The calculator

Quick answer

With our starting numbers for roofers (40 leads a month, 30% close rate, $12,000 per job, 30% of buyers asking AI first, AI score 40 raised to 80), the calculator estimates about 83 more leads, 25 more jobs and $299,557 more revenue a year, or $224,668 in year one while it ramps up. That is about $74,889 in added profit a year at full speed. An estimate, not a promise.

What starting numbers does the calculator use for roofers?

These are our starting guesses so the page shows a number right away. Replace every one with yours. "What one new client is worth" means the money from one new job. A full replacement is often far more than a repair, so use your own average.

At a 25% margin that is about $74,889 in added profit a year once you reach score 80. The report compares that with the AI Launch Plan, our $200-a-month plan for home service businesses. At these numbers one new roofing job a year covers it. The "AI names you" rates, the 32.5% middle rate and the 6-month ramp are our own estimates.

What do buyers ask AI when they need one?

In BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults, 45% had used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local business recommendations, up from 6% the year before (source).

These are examples of the questions we test for roofers. Each one is a moment when a buyer asks an AI tool instead of scrolling a list of links:

  • "Who's the best roofer near me for storm damage?"
  • "How much does a roof replacement cost in [your city]?"
  • "Which roofing companies in [your city] do free inspections?"
  • "Is it worth repairing my roof or should I replace it?"

If the answer names three businesses and yours isn't one, that buyer never sees you.

What makes AI name one roofer over another?

In our audits of roofers these are the things we check first:

  • One page per town you serve, saying the town's name in plain text, not only in a map.
  • License and insurance stated in words on the site, matching what the state lists.
  • How insurance claims work with you, written out step by step. Storm-damage buyers ask AI this.
  • Reviews that name the job: "replaced our shingle roof after the hail" tells AI more than "great service".
  • The same name, address and phone on your site, your Google Business Profile and the big directories.

Which number should a roofer change first?

What one new client is worth. Put in your average job, not your biggest. A repair and a full replacement are very different numbers.

Roofing leads come in waves after storms. The calculator uses a steady month. If most of your year's work lands in two storm months, put in your yearly leads ÷ 12.

FAQ

Questions from roofers

Why is the roofing number bigger than other trades?

Because one roofing job is worth a lot. With the starting guess of $12,000 a job, 25 more jobs a year is about $300,000. Put in your own average job size to see yours.

Does this count storm season?

No. It uses one steady number of leads a month. Put in your yearly leads divided by 12 if your work comes in bursts.
